As it has always been said that the people are the rhythm of a nation, the rich culture and variety of Morocco is just reflected in each and every section of the lively nation that do business anxiously and enthusiastically in the full of life streets as chants of worship fill the air. The heritage of these people is somewhat long and fascinating; they've however started to embrace modernizing their world. Nevertheless, there is some enthusiastic timelessness that is still hanging over all of them. Here below we present you with a bit about the people of this country as well as a little about the general history of the nation.
Morocco as a nation is indebted to all the many cultures that have influenced it during the course of its history. Originally, this area now known as Morocco appeared to have been occupied by the Libyans and Ethiopians who were collectively called the Berbers. These people lived in tribal groups in the area during an epoch of the sultanate dynasties.
There was hardly any submission to a singular government in that region by then. However, various national groups begun to encroach on the area and these were the Arabs, Romans, Spaniards, Phoenicians, Byzantines, Portuguese, Turks, Europeans and then the French. To a large extent, this influence came in the form of aggression on the coast of Spain. For quite some time, this area was claimed and over ruled by other countries until it finally became independent in 1956.
Quite a number of people in Morocco claim to be of both Berber and Arab ancestry, however most of them are generally referred to as Berbers.
Although it seemed as if most Berbers were all pagan worshipers, this time the majority of the Moroccans are Moslems. The rest of the population practice Christianity or Judaism.
Just a small section that can claim pure Arab origin and a few small groups of true Berbers which exist in the Souss Valley, Atlas Mountains and Rif Mountains are able to speak a number of those olden Berber languages. Also is a small number of Jews as well as black African Moroccans who make up the population of Morocco to come to over 30 million people, many of who are not well off. Even Lifestyles vary depending on the areas in which people live.
People living in rural areas are often unable to get fairly basic items, such as plasters. They generally tend to grow plants or tend livestock for food. However there are far greater clusters of people in the cities which buzz with life at all times of the day. Markets are virtually a way of life for most Moroccans and can be found in each town and city. The Majority of these markets are however closed during the lunch period and also on Fridays which is the day for prayers. The majority of Moroccans are quite welcoming and hospitable and will always extend temperate enticement.
