Currency exchange:
The National currencies are only exchanged at official bureaux de change and Dirhams can only be got from Morocco. It is illegal to change money on streets. Its prohibited to import and export the local currency in Morocco and for departure, you have to convert all the local currencies. The local currency Dirhams is identified by a golden sign and must be equivalent of Dh 1500 ($1760 - 925.00) according to export and import of foreign currency and may be declared if in excess.
Almost half of the Moroccan currency may be exchanged for foreign currency, which was purchased during the visitor’s stay upon production if the bank’s vouchers and all of it may be exchanged if the visit is of less than 48 hours.
Receipts are issued to visitors to exchange Morocco currency upon departure for the national currency.
A chequebook or credit card can help the visitors to withdraw money from the bank as well as using an ATM card for those in larger towns.
Banks are available in large numbers to cash credit cards and traveller’s cheques as well as changing money.
